CAN PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND SEE AGAIN?

At this time, there is no way to fully restore lost vision. However, researchers are optimistic about several emerging therapies. These include:

**Stem cell therapy**: A treatment where stem cells from your own body are used to heal and repair damaged cells.

**Gene therapy**: A promising treatment currently under investigation to address the causes of vision loss and potentially restore sight. In 2020, researchers used gene therapy to restore vision in mice, but its use in humans is still very new and under testing.

**Implantation of certain types of cells**: For example, retinal cells to help restore sight.

**Bionic eyes**: Still in development, these are prosthetic eyes implanted and programmed to transmit signals to the brain.

While many of these ideas are promising, most of these therapies are still in various stages of clinical trials or regulatory approval and are not yet widely available.
